History
The Idaho Afterschool Alliance was formed as a result of the Idaho After-School Summit, sponsored by the National Governor’s Association & Idaho Governor’s Council on Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention, held in Boise, Idaho on March 8 and 9, 2006. During the summit it became evident that a need exists to bring together all afterschool programming in the state to facilitate funding and training opportunities, provide program standards and guidance, and provide a networking structure to connect all of Idaho’s afterschool programs.
Mission
The Idaho Afterschool Alliance provides the leadership, training and advocacy needed to guarantee every child in Idaho the opportunity to participate in safe, high quality afterschool programs promoting positive youth development.
Goals:
1. Advocacy at local and state levels - one message in support of quality and access to afterschool programs for all children kindergarten through twelfth grades.

- Provide information to decision-makers and stakeholders on the status of afterschool. Share current research-based studies.
- Inform the general public on afterschool issues and success at the local and state levels.
2. Establish a system for training staff, coordinators, directors, stakeholders and decision-makers.
- Identify training materials and resources.
